Year 12 - observational drawing - digital
With this drawing I was focusing on realism and the look of the image and how I can convey this with my drawing. I love the shades featured in the image and love the look of the ridges as I feel like it contributes to this gothic and steampunk-esque aesthetic. To create this drawing I first went in and outlined the shapes of the image and then I went into each section and colour blocked the colours which are in the section and I repeated this process until the drawing was done. I chose with this drawing to not blend out the colours as I felt like it looked better stylistically. I love the colour scheme of this drawing as it features some of the blacks and darker browns that I want to feature in my work going forward. I feel like this drawing was also very successful as it looks like a replica of the image and I love the outcome. To improve this drawing I would have a go at blending the colours and seeing if I can be successful at that.

With this primary image I was again looking at the use of shapes in buildings and the use of windows. That I want to appear in my work. To create this drawing I decided to just focus in on the centre of the building as it has the most detail and is the most interesting part of the building. I began with the outline of the building and then went in using dot work in order to get some of the shadows and then I went in with regular sharing to coat the entire building and give it come life and this almost gothic look to it. I love the colour scheme of this building as its mainly grey tones which is what I want in my work alongside the different blues of the denim. Overall, I feel like this drawing was successful as it again represents the building well but also has my own personal spin on it with the gothic elements. To improve this drawing I would probably try to attempt the detail work within the statues at the top of the building for a more dynamic look.
Year 13 - observational drawing - digital
Created digitally, this drawing of a skeleton hand is presented in a three-quarter view, offering a perspective that highlights both the palm and the back of the hand. The lines are clean and precise, indicating my careful and controlled approach, indicative of not only my reference material but also the rigidity of some of the structural elements of my garment. The use of shading, particularly in the shadows cast by the bones, adds depth and dimension to the artwork. This shading helps to emphasize the three-dimensional form of the hand. The colour palette of this piece reflects the main house style of my piece with the running theme of black and white.

The drawing features a human skull in profile, with the focus on its anatomical details. The skull is positioned slightly off-centre, creating a sense of asymmetry within the composition. The line work is detailed and precise, capturing the intricate structure of the skull and its individual bones. The image is monochromatic, using shades of grey. This limited colour palette emphasizes the texture and detail of the skull. The skulls are very featured in the gothic aesthetic and similar to the first necklace I would use the skull imagery as perhaps embroidery details within the skirt and blazer.

This drawing of a necklace features a unique design with a series of interconnected coffin-shaped links. The links are arranged in a diagonal pattern, creating a sense of movement and dynamism, similar to a skirt. The cross motif within each coffin-shaped link adds a symbolic element to the design as crosses are often found in gothic outfits albeit in accessories. The line work is bold and assertive, emphasizing the strong shape of the coffin links and the intricate details of the cross motif. The lines are primarily straight and angular, which adds to the sense of structure and order. Relating to the rigidity of a blazer. The contrast between the darker lines and the lighter background further enhances the visual impact of the design.
